Amsterdam City Guide | Things to Do for Design Lovers

Amsterdam is a city that will leave you feeling inspired. The city is full of beautiful modern architecture, and you can see it on every corner. The best part is that all these buildings are interconnected with bridges, canals, and tunnels.

To be honest, it is extremely rare for me that my expectations, which are based on photos from the Internet, coincide with the real impression of the city. When I googled Amsterdam, I constantly saw the main street with beautiful picturesque canals, old dark brown houses, and a bunch of bicycles. It turned out to be true but multiplied a hundred times.

So I would not say that there is any part of Amsterdam more beautiful than another. The whole city is very beautiful, thought out to the smallest detail in terms of urbanism, infrastructure, architecture, and landscape. I appreciate such cities that can become an example for the whole world to wait for.

At Venu

Studio HENK makes stunning, minimalist furniture that will last a lifetime. These come into their own in the new flagship store in an 18th-century building on Rozengracht, which once served as the Bols jenever distillery. With 3 floors, this HENK store is also the largest, making it all the more difficult to choose from the huge range of beautiful designs, fabrics and colors on display.

Funen Blok K | Verdana

These ten houses are part of a masterplan for 500 dwellings and a park by the Architecten Cie, called 'Het Funen, Hidden Delights'. The triangular site is located between the historic center and the recently redeveloped harbor area in the east of Amsterdam, a former parking lot for towed cars. Along the east and the south side, a 'wall' containing over 300 apartments and office spaces shields the site from the noise of the adjacent railroad.
