Santa Clara 1728 | Minimalistic & Authentic Lisbon Hotel

Lisbon is a special city, filled with beautiful architecture, art, and history. It was one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited, and the Santa Clara Hotel was one of my favorite parts about it. It was one of the most beautiful hotels we've ever visited, and I recommend staying here to anyone who wants a taste of what Portugal has to offer.

The Santa Clara team has created a stunning space that brings peace, simplicity, comfort, tranquillity, and delight to the eyes from details filled with beauty and harmony. If you're a design lover and want to stay around a romantic Lisbon square—this place is for you!

Here's a photo from our stay at the Santa Clara hotel in the city center of Lisbon. We stayed here for two nights and loved it! The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly, and the location was perfect for exploring Lisbon.

The owner of Santa Clara lives here with his family on the last floor. The idea of 'home' is particularly poignant for Joao Rodrigues, the Founder, and Owner of Silent Living, having spent his life working as a pilot, caught in the constant to-and-fro of traveling and returning. It's this feeling that inspired him to create a hotel that would be an oasis from the fast-paced life of modern cities, but also makes a connection with them.

The hotel was designed by internationally acclaimed architect Álvaro Siza Vieira, who wanted to create a space that would bring the outside in, so you can literally feel like you're surrounded by nature no matter where you are in the building. The architects used glass wherever possible so guests can enjoy views of Lisbon's historic center—and even see it change throughout the day as they move through different rooms!
The original plan was to create a boutique hotel here but he ended up taking his daughter Helena to the construction site one day when they were renovating and she said:

- Dad, this house is so beautiful. When do we move in?

That's how by one question she has changed the life of their family and they decide to move there.
There’s always a homemade meal and drinks in the communal kitchen and around a table where people share breakfast. (The food is incredible and it is included in the stay price).
This stunning space— is an architect’s dream all filled with high-quality interior materials and details: eggshell blue walls, a limestone staircase, and giant oil paintings leaning up against the wall. There are only six rooms total in an 18th-century building that has been renovated with local materials.
